Some reggae recommendations from our YouTube channel.
Reggae from '68, written and produced by Lee Perry and originally released on his Upsetter label. This is the 2018 Get On Down reissue. The keen eyed among you will see the labels have been pressed incorrectly on this copy, apparently it was the case for a lot of these. Not something that bothers me much, sounds good.
From the Mikey Dread produced, Bad Man Possee, album. Originally released in '82, this is the 2024 Music On Vinyl reissue.
Reggae from the Maytals. B-Side (AA-Side) on the Monkey Man/Day And Night 45, originally released in '69. This is the Get On Down Reissue from 2018.
Originally released in '76, this is the RSD 2017 Reissue Columbia/Brookvale Records. 40th Anniversary, Limited, Numbered, Special Edition, Red/Gold/Green Vinyl. Also has a Scratch N Sniff (marijuana smell) inner sleeve.
African inspired dub from the African Head Charge '90 debut record, Songs Of Praise. This is the 2020 reissue from Adrian Sherwood's own label, On-U Sound.
Dandy Livingstone cover and first track from The Specials self-titled debut, released in '79. This is the Australian press from that year, on the Chrysalis label. Not the best condition... who cares?
From Jamaican Recordings, Dub Treasures From the Black Ark (Rare Dubs 1976-1978), compilation. Original release was 2010, I think. This is the 2021 repress. Not 100% on this being an authentic Lee Perry dub, but I like the driving 'Middle Class' rhythm.
