Alternative/Garage Rock

Some recommendations from our YouTube channel.

Psychedelic rock from '68. This is a Track Record 7" from that year.

Top quality rhythm and blues from the '64, self-titled, Pretty Things, debut EP. This is the '65 Australian pressing (Extended Play label variant). For those interested, Dick Taylor of the Pretty Things went to school (Dartford grammar) with Mick Jagger and was in a band with Jagger and Richards called Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys. He was the original Rolling Stones bassist before leaving (he wanted to play lead-guitar) and being replaced by Bill Wyman.

Canon psychedelic rock from '67. This is the 2015 Elektra/Rhino Records, white vinyl, reissue.

Tropical psych from Australian greats, The Babe Rainbow. Side B opener on the Today album from 2019. This is the baby blue vinyl version.

First track on the, Blood Hot, album from 2013. This is the 2024 reissue.

Post punk/new wave from Charlie Megira and his then girlfriend Michal Kahan. From the self-titled album, originally self-released on CD-R in 2006, the Numero Group remastered and released the vinyl LP in 2023. This is the Opaque Ennui (grey/silver) vinyl version.

Psychedelic closer from Morgan Delt's 2016 album, Phase Zero. This is the Subpop Loser (first-run on coloured vinyl) Edition.

Hooky title track from Algiers second record, The Underside of Power. Released in 2017 on Matador Records. This is the Cream Marbled edition.

Allah-Las - No Werewolf, on their Worship the Sun 10th Anniversary Edition LP. Cover of The Frantics B-Side, 'No Werewolf', which is pretty much the A-Side, 'Werewolf', with the original spooky sound effects removed (probably to make the track more 60s radio friendly).

Tasty surf garage. B-Side on Wipeout! EP, Australian release from '64.

Grading a bunch of 45s today. I hadn't heard it before, Go Buddy Go - B Side on the Peaches single. Apologies for the sound quality. Low grade record, killer tune.

Canon psychedelic rock from '67. This is the 2015 Elektra/Rhino Records, white vinyl, reissue.

More to come.
