Afro-soul from Staten Island. The Budos Band's self-titled debut record, released on Daptone Records in '05. For those interested, this one's a cover of Samuel Belay's original from Ethiopia. Afrobeat from the 'Live!' LP, originally released in '72. This is the 50th Anniversary reissue on Knitting Factory Records.
Electro-funk from Nigeria. First released on vinyl in '79 on the 'Tomorrow' LP, on William Onyeabor's own label, Wilfilms Records. This is the 2013 Luaka Bop compilation 'Who Is Willaim Onyeabor?'
Zamrock from '76, by the mighty Ngozi family. Originally released on the Zambian Music Parlour label, this is the 2014 Now-Again reissue.
Another disco killer from Nigeria. The title track from Steve Monite - Only You Originally released in '84, this is the 2023 reissue from the amazing, Soundway Records.
Somalian Jazz/Funk from the Ostinato Records, 4 Mars, compilation released in 2021.
Groovy Nigerian Disco from 1980. Legendary saxophonist Tunde Mabadu. This is the Mr. Bongo 2018 reissue of his Viva Disco album. Track is Disco Press Funk. Enjoy! From the Hype Sticker: "Official Mr. Bongo reissue of the ultra-rare Nigerian disco-boogie, 'Viva Disco', album from 1980. Originally released on the brilliant Afrodisia label."
